Kilt pins have both an ornamental and functional use.
If you've ever been to a Scottish Festival and Games,
then you already know how well they hold things down!

I've heard lots of people complain when they lose their
kilt pin from hours of walking around the grounds and visiting,
or competing in an event, dancing, or generally roughhousing at
the clan tents - so let me offer you this sage little piece of
advice which was given to me by a customer several years back
up on Grandfather Mountain. Take a thick rubber band, and cut it
in half. Take your kilt pin, and put the pin through your kilt from
outside to inside. Then take the half of a rubber band, and carefully
thread it onto the pin several times, almost like a ribbon. Push the
pin back out to the front of the kilt material and set the clasp.

Even if your clasp comes open, your kilt pin won't fall off! And a
bonus is that it will 'flap' against your leg, alerting you to the
problem so that you can fix it. Tah Dahhhh!

Kilt pins can be customized to your tartan by using
different semi-precious stones to match the colors.
